Every few years, my work for the Academic Year in Freiburg brings me to the Midwest—to visit our partner universities, to meet students and new colleagues, and to develop strategies for strengthening the program.

The absolute highlights of this year’s Midwestern Tour d’AYF were the alumni events! The first ever AYF Alumni Social in Chicago was followed by an Ice Cream Social in the UW-Madison’s Rathskeller, several individual meetings with alumns in Iowa City, a reunion at MSU, and a fabulous Alumni Dinner in Ann Arbor. These events were attended by about one hundred alumnae and alumni spanning many Junior Year and Academic Year in Freiburg generations from 1968 through 2015!
